It is almost the end of the third month of the year, and I have one honest question. What happened to all the resolutions?
At the start of every year, we are always full of energy. We write down goals, make promises to ourselves, and commit to becoming better. For a few days, sometimes a few weeks, we show up. We wake up early, eat right, pray consistently, read our Bibles, and stay disciplined.
Then slowly, life happens.
We begin to slip. Late nights return. Early mornings disappear. The gym becomes a memory. Junk food finds its way back. Prayer becomes occasional. The fire fades, and before we know it, we are back to old patterns.
But here is the truth. The problem is not that we are incapable. The problem is that we rely on motivation instead of decision.
This year, I chose a different path. I started before the new year. No noise. No pressure. Just a quiet decision to be consistent. And it is working.
When the holidays are over, reality sets in. Students go back to school. Workers go back to their jobs. For many, it is back to routine and survival mode.
But what if you are meant for more than just routine?
Here is the resolution that truly matters. Do your own thing.
Yes, you heard me. Do your own thing.
Start something. Build something. Learn a skill. Use your hands. Create value. There is something inside you that the world needs. God did not create you empty. He deposited something powerful in you.
Find it. Grow it. Use it.
For years, I asked God to show me my gifts so I could use them and prosper. He answered me in ways I did not expect. Now I see possibilities everywhere. It is exciting, but also humbling. So let me tell you this. Be careful what you ask God for. He answers.
This year, I made up my mind. I will try. I will step out. I will take risks. I will not sit back and wonder what could have been.
Because failure is not the worst thing that can happen. Not trying is.
As you move forward to the next quarter of the year, let this be your reminder.
Show up. Start small. Stay consistent. Keep going.
At the end of it all, let it not be said that you did not try.
