Intentionally Bald

Would you rock a skin cut as a woman?

I saw a lady the other day and she looked every inch a chic in her skin cut and it got me wondering if I can actually go that route when it's time for a change of hairstyle.

My head is shaped like a mango and so a skin cut may make me lose some people's respect.

Some women are quite daring I must say as some will not only rock a bald head, they will also put some scalp oil that leaves the head shinning like a mirror.

This is one bold look I'll pass on and so I doff my hat for the women who are intentionally bald.

While the bald look suits some people, it makes some look like they are mourning or even sick.

Where I come from, that's one way to recognise a widow and so it is a taboo for a woman to shave off her hair when her husband is still alive.

Woe betide the woman who stubbornly does so if anything happens to her husband; she will definitely be held responsible as it will appear that she already mourned him while he was alive.

Another reason women shave their hair is to get rid of "igwu" (lice) its been long I heard of this though. Lice live in the root of the hair and survive on human blood that they suck through the lymphs.

In those days, when otapiapia or relaxer or kerosene doesn't work, the only other option is to cut off the whole hair.

So when I see women in skin cut the two things that come to my mind are "igwu" and "mourning".

One good thing about this hairstyle is the fact that one can afford to have water run through her head on a daily basis. That is the only advantage I see which is very important in our climate.

I understand that there are women who are loosing hair due to age or sickness; I sympathise and pray with them at their trying times.

I'm still trying to understand why those with mental issues have to have their hair shaved while they undergo treatment.

No matter how trendy it is, I will never see it as a fashion statement to go bald.

As a matter of fact, the third thing that comes to my mind when I see a bald lady is "madness"

While some ladies look really good bald some just succeed in looking like a bald vulture. My simple advice is this, don't go bald because it's in vogue, it may suit your friend but not you!

  2. I prefer low cut that make some ladies smart and cute to bald to avoid misconception from different quarters
