He's the reason!

Hey people!! Just one day to the big day. Are you still as excited? Is Christmas overrated? A big NO! Christmas is as special as special can be.

I must admit that the anticipation of Christmas is more exciting though. The planning, shopping and all the other activities.

The stores are alive in bright colours and Christmas songs blasting from the speakers. All sorts of fake promos ongoing and all classes of people pushing or pulling shopping carts all over the place.

The markets are a no go area, the human traffic is unbelievable. Not only will you be battling pickpockets, different shades of body odour attack you mercilessly. Not like I'm complaining, it's all part of the preparation deal.

The Balogun mama put jollof rice tastes even better this period. The atmosphere tells you that something great is about to happen.

For my Igbo peeps, all roads lead to the East, vehicles filled with luggage and every driver prepared for unique encounters with the police.

When Christmas finally comes, it's usually not more than the rice- fried, stewed, sauced or jollofed.  Plenty beef, chicken or goat meat. For the very well prepared,  pork and Turkey.

Alcohol and more alcohol are consumed and by the next day some wake up in the gutters or in their cars. Some won't remember how they made it home or to their bedrooms.

A day to Christmas; someone may still feel low. No money, no car, no upward moment, no promotion no this no that. Well there's more to life than material success.

Can you see the colour of that jollof rice or beautifully wrapped moimoi? Some do not know what those look like, they know them but have never been able to see with their eyes.

Some are so happy but do not have a voice to express their feelings. Over a million people will spend Christmas in unkempt hospitals around Nigeria.

When you dance to "30 billion for the account oh" think of those on wheel chairs and those who cannot hear the music.

By the way some people's  curtains may be drawn tonight but if you can read me, you are not one of them.

Whatever it is, no matter how big the problem looks, forget about it tonight and focus on the birth of the Saviour of the world.

He is the reason for the season and not your achievement.

He's the reason for the season not your difficulties.

He's the reason for the season, not the car or house you couldn't buy.

He's the reason for the season, not your troublesome husband or wife.

If your hair is rough due to lack of funds, jazz it up yourself. Your nails, buy a nail polish remover and clean them randomly, keep them white.

The side chic who's feels disappointed, don't worry he'll pick your call after the season then you get your pound of flesh. Just let madam enjoy her right of place for a while.

Side boo that  failed to settle just explain that the responsibility is a lot at this time. The in laws are to be taken care of too. She'll understand and wait for her turn.

For those who have it all sorted out, please acknowledge God's hand in it,  you are not the most organised.

Whatever happens, do not forget that it is the anniversary of Christ's birth and not yours.

Christ is the reason for the season. Show Him Some respect!
