Her Other Self - Conclusion

Eve's life suddenly changed and she went from being scared to being extremely happy. She had almost given up on ever being a mother and so to know that a child was growing inside her became her miracle and what it did was take her back to church. She was six weeks gone by the time she registered for prenatal classes; as she lay on that hospital bed and watched her baby's heartbeat on the monitor, she began to shed uncontrollable tears. The doctor who she had met for the first time that same day already knew and understood her emotions.

She had taken Eve's history, Eve had never been married and never been pregnant, her pregnancy was classified as high risk because of her age. As she wept, the doctor held her hand and spoke to her reassuringly, telling her that she took the best decision to keep her baby. She also promised Eve that she would do her best to ensure that she got the best care for the duration of her pregnancy.

It had been over three months since Eve heard from OG, she missed him but hated him for trying to manipulate her into getting rid of the pregnancy, she still had not been able to tell Ade that she carried his baby. She called him once and they just chatted briefly, he was surprised that she called him because he had forgotten about that uneventful night. She had to remind him of who she was and it felt awkward mentioning their crazy encounter, "oh you, what"s the name again?" "Eve", the conversation was a bit weird and so they both kept it very short.

The next time they spoke, it was Ade that called her, he wanted to know if she was available that night, Eve was very upset and told Ade very sternly that what happened between them was a one-off, she warned him not to ever call her again if he had nothing meaningful to discuss. On that day, she told him her real name and that she was the General Manager, Sales, and Marketing of a foremost Fast food chain, as a second job, she wrote business plans and strategies and helped to set up new businesses; she asked him to only call her if he wanted to talk business.

Ade stared at the phone for a while after Eve hung up, he felt like he dialed a wrong number, and Eve felt all the more convinced that she should treat Ade like a sperm donor, it was bad enough that her baby's father saw her as cheap and an easy lay.

OG showed up one evening at Eve's apartment, she let him in after the security men who knew him quite well let him into the compound, they even expressed their excitement at seeing him again after a long time and as expected he greased their palms like he always did. OG couldn't hide his surprise at how radiant Eve looked and he made same known to her. She carried the pregnancy so well, she was chubby and her skin glowed.

They both sat down and talked over their differences, OG told her that  Isioma found out about them, and left their home with their children. His parents had called him for a meeting and asked him to go and plead with his wife to come back home. Isioma found out everything about Eve and where she worked and even knew that she was pregnant; the twist was that Isioma told both her parents and parents-in-law that she believed Eve was pregnant with OG's baby. OG told Eve that he was ready to take that bold step to make their relationship official. Eve was convinced that OG had lost it.

It took her getting pregnant for another man to realize that it wasn't worth it, she felt so bad to have caused another woman such pain and asked OG to please go and get his wife back. Eve told OG that she was willing to speak to Isioma and ask for her forgiveness, OG got hysterical over what Eve had to say which scared Eve a bit; she had never seen him that way and after he was calm, she gently told him that she just could not continue to live that way because of her baby. God gave her an opportunity for a fresh start and she was not going to miss it. Before OG left that night for his hotel, he asked Eve to at least let him still be in her life as a friend. If Eve ever doubted that OG loved her, she had no reason to doubt anymore only that it was the wrong kind of love.

At six months, Eve had to move into her parent's home, she found it hard to do a lot of things; her mother insisted on having her come back home regardless of how Eve's father felt. After many unsuccessful attempts to find out more about the mystery guy responsible for Eve's pregnancy, her parents gave up and decided to support their only daughter and first child. Her two younger brothers who were both married were also very supportive and kept her secret from their parents.

She could hardly walk by the twenty-eighth week of the pregnancy and when she got a call from Ade asking her out for a drink she wasn't sure what response to give to him. Susan told her that it might just be the right time to tell him; she had nothing to lose, either he accepted or wanted nothing to do with the baby. Eve called him back and asked for a lunch date at a nice restaurant instead of meeting at a noisy place at night.

When she walked up to Ade, he stared at her like she looked familiar, Eve looked at him and said, "here is the result of that night, do you still want to sit for lunch or not, tell me so I can leave right now?" Ade looked so confused that Eve burst into laughter, the look on his face made her laugh so hard. He began to stammer, "no, I mean yes, please sit". When they settled down, Ade got more composed and asked her to repeat what she said.

Ade was not married, had no plans of getting married, had no children, wanted just one child someday but didn't think it would happen then. "Are you sure?" he asked over and over again till Eve told him that she would walk out on him if he asked her one more time if she was sure. She told that she planned to take care of her child with or without him and was persuaded into telling him. After that day, Ade called Eve every single day, he even started to visit her at home and that was when she revealed to her parents the identity of the baby's father. Eve promised Ade that after the baby was born that a DNA test would be carried out just to set his mind at ease, after all, they did not meet in the most decent manner.

Ade even went to some prenatal classes with Eve which delighted the doctor who had become like a friend to Eve. Ade turned out to be a great guy but was afraid of commitments. Sometimes he jokingly told Eve to let him smoothen the part for the baby to come out easily, each time he said that, Eve told him that the road was locked for good even the baby would have to take the short cut.

On the day of the caesarian section at thirty weeks, Ade was in the theatre with Eve, he held her hand and told her that she would be okay. Eve could not believe her fortune; from being single and pregnant to having a significant other  who was also the father of her baby. She knew that God never gave up on her and vowed to rededicate her life to God.

The naming ceremony was held in Ade's home and his parents were in attendance, this was after they visited Eve's parents with traditional drinks to acknowledge that Eve's child was fathered by Ade as requested by Eve's parent's according to their tradition. On that day, OG who invited himself to the occasion presented Eve with a cheque, it was twenty million Naira and he pleaded with Eve to accept it as his gift to her child.

Ade wants to co-parent with Eve, he doesn't want to get married but wants to live with Eve as his partner, a proposal Eve rejected, she lives with her daughter in her home and Ade is very much in his daughter's life, he comes at the same time every day and spends two hours with his daughter and Eve. Sometimes, he even cooks for Eve, they are very good friends and occasionally he jokingly asks Eve to let them try for a second child.

OG recently asked Eve if she will consider starting all over again since she is not involved with Ade, He brought his wife back home before she travelled to give birth to their fifth child in the United States of America. Eve has blocked him for good this time and says that nothing will come between her and her faith ever again, God has been extremely gracious to her, she is happy and fulfilled, she has a very supportive family, she is a mother to the most beautiful baby girl with a baby daddy who never wants to get married but has the kindest heart, most of all, she got a second chance to fix her life.

Me - I  think OG has a mental condition.

  2. OG is such a selfish and irresponsible fellow. A husband and father of five children yet was ready to ditch such a blessed home because a lady was very artistic with his dick. Na waa for us men. Thank God for Eve and Ade. They both got what they wanted despite their meeting by "accident". God works in mysterious ways. Quite a romantic Thriller.

  3. Wow!! Thank you for not going the typical route of Ade all of a sudden becoming husband material overnight. I believe the greatest gift anyone can give themselves and others is to be to thine ownselve true. He stayed true to who he was and yet is a great father and co parent to their daughter. So glad the turn of events led Eve back to God. OG bu anu mpama!! Periodt!!!

Thank you for thrilling us yet again!

  4. I've got to say, Ade is the real MVP in this story!! Can you imagine how many women would have been saved so much heartache if most of our men who know they cannot be committed to one woman actually were actually upfront and honest about it.
