Jekwulu's story

To be a Christian is one thing but to be a true Christian is the important thing. A lot of Christians struggle daily to live the Holy life and the reason is simple; sin is easy but that is if we look at it with human eyes.

In reality, it is easier to live a Holy life because it is a lot simpler. The straight and narrow path is definitely better than the crooked but the father of all lies makes gullible people believe that sin is so easy.

The bad things appear to be a lot of fun,  very interesting,  intriguing and adventurous till you get caught.  As one grows spiritually those same things start to become what they really are, dangerous.

Telling a lie is the easiest sin to commit but in the long run it is hard to sustain a lie. One lie starts off another one and the lie chain continues. The other easy sin is sexual immorality and I'll share an interesting story that relates to this.

A lot of Christians struggle with lying,  some are so used to it that it becomes a way of life.  My favourite line for liars is "when he says good morning to you please check outside to be sure that it is truly morning" lol!

Sometimes we feel that a simple lie like "I'm on my way to you" when you are still going into the bathroom is not harmful. Those simple lies are actually the dangerous ones because we tend to repeat them often and in some cases, the children hear such lies from us which makes it very bad considering the warnings of Christ regarding causing the little ones to sin.

I often wonder why sexual immorality is very common in recent times. However  I realised that this is the oldest type of sin and the fact that prostitution is the oldest profession confirms it .  Hmmm....

I've also realised that many devoted Christians struggle with the sin of sexual immorality. Once a person declares that she is for God, the fallen angels come out to play. The temptations come in leaps and bounds that it takes a lot of self discipline and desire to please God to conquer.

Jekwulu (not real name) shared with me his encounter with a born again Christian back in school. He said that this particular girl was well known by everyone to be a dedicated member of a popular campus fellowship.

They were quite cordial because of the girl's friendliness.  She would always stop and say hello to him on her way to class in the morning and another hello on her way back to her room in the off campus complex that they both lived in.

A few times she actually stood in front of his room and they would talk for a while. Those times she would seize the opportunity to talk to him about the gospel and she always ended their conversation by telling him that he would preach the gospel one day.

This unrepentant young chap took her concern for his salvation for an affection for him and he kept waiting for the day he would shoot his shot.

They continued as usual but got even friendlier with each other. The Christian chic would address him as "my darling brother" and he saw it further as a sign that she wanted him but was being held back by her faith.

One fateful day, she came back from lectures quite early and because Jekwulu had no classes at all was home. This sneaky fellow finally found the right moment to try his luck.

As soon as he heard her voice singing as she walked past his room he rushed to meet her before she passed by. This Christian girl was surprised for she wasn't expecting to see anyone in the compound at that time.

He started a conversation with her and walked her to her room while they chatted. She invited him inside and as she sat on her bed, he sat close to her. He noticed that she was comfortable sitting that close to him and so he held her hand and squeezed it and she responded by squeezing his hand back.

He turned to look at her and cupped her face with his two hands; lifting her face up he kissed her gently and she kissed him back.

When he kissed her neck she started to moan; he knew that he had hit the right spot and he couldnt believe his luck.  He was already thinking of how to boast to his friends that he banged the "born again" girl.

He gently pushed her over to make her lie down and he led her hand to grab his "ready for battle" manhood and she squeezed it aggressively which got him more aroused.

She spread out willingly for him to gain an easy entry and he decided to work on her some more with his fingers.

He was all over her doing a lot of wonders and from her reactions he knew that she had not been touched in a long time and was obviously enjoying his magic. Jekwulu was so proud of himself.

She was moaning and breathing very hard, calling on him to just take her, he slowly  pulled down his trousers and his briefs then laid back on her.

At first he thought it was in his head because his eyes were half shut but strangely he couldn't gain access to the garden and then he opened his eyes fully to see that it was the "born again" girl speaking. She had also tightly closed her legs and they felt like iron bars. Lol!

He was startled and quickly jumped up. He was so scared and thought she was possessed for she was speaking a strange language. Hahaha! Holy Ghost fire!  When she started speaking English all he could hear were, "I bind you in Jesus Name, oh you demon flee from me, I bind and cast you in to the abyss" "oh spirit of fornication leave my body now in Jesus Name". His tyre went flat immediately and he held his briefs and trousers to waist while he took to his heels. He had no time to wear his shirt, he was so sure he would be arrested by the Holy Ghost and beaten to a pulp.

He ran as fast as his legs could carry him and he could still hear her binding and casting him. That night he heard her as she prayed throughout the night, crying and asking God for mercy.

Now, this is what true Christianity is about. It is not perfection for we can never be perfect. Some may argue  and say that the bible says in Matthew 5:48 - You must be perfect just as your Father in heaven is perfect! We can only try to be perfect because we can never be as perfect as God and everyone knows it.

This young girl was able to resist the flesh albeit how late and I know that the heaven rejoiced at that point while the devil and his agents bowed in shame and disappointment including Jekwulu. That brought their cordial friendship to an unexpected end.

If you are a Christian, the next time you are about to fall into that sin, remember the "born again girl"and know that it is never late to resist temptation.

Like my people will say, "mgbe onye ji teta bu ututu ya" (when a person wakes up is the person's morning)

  1. She took a risk. She had no business going that far! Thank God she later got hold of herself.

  3. I for one always believe in boundaries. I always tell people close to me that boundaries should be CLEARLY maintained, if we must respect one another. I usually give an instanve that no matter how close you get with your mother, you will not jokingly or otherwise say "mum you are stupid". Am also strongly against getting so close with an opposite sex that one is not dating and term it as "we are just close" or " we are very close" that doesn't exist in my dictionary, cos i always believe smtin will go down or is going down that is more than the eye meet. So, pls cut the crap!
I say our Lord's prayer almost on daily basis and one of the lines i love most is "lead us not into temptation but deliver us from all evil". I hold that part so dear. Even Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour recognises that there's temptation. Am glad God understands and always willing to save us when we ask.
