Her Best Friend

It has a been a while since I blogged and it has taken its toll on me. A part of me fell in love with writing many months ago and now when I do not write I feel empty.

I thought it was just in my head the miserable way I felt and I kept pushing it away till a revered friend of mine told me that even through my smile and laughter he could see that I wasn't quite happy.

Another friend that I respect so much had told me in the past that my pen must never run dry.

Such words encourage me to never quit and remind me that many have come to look up to me to use my humble medium to profer solutions to some of their issues.

There's a whole backlog of stories to share and so I have a lot of work to do this period as the ministry must keep moving.

I apologise for the extremely long gap and promise to bridge it as much as I can.

I'll start by sharing the story of Sade.

Sade had a best friend Fina who she loved very dearly till things went sour between them for the most complicated reason.

While Sade was from a very wealthy home Fina's parents lived in penury.

Fina was only able to go to the University because she benefited from the benevolence of a philanthropist who awarded a scholarship to the best graduating student in her secondary school. One thing Fina had going for her was her intelligence.

Fina met Sade in class on a day when Sade struggled with some of her tutorial questions.

She offered to help her and afterwards they walked together to the school canteen where Sade reciprocated her kindness by paying for her food.

From that day they went everywhere  and did everything together.

Fina's life changed drastically and she began to look and feel like other students. Sade made that happen. She shared her pocket money with Fina, shopped for her and took her to nice restaurants.

Sade loved Fina like her own blood and the friendship quickly involved both families.

Sade would also take Fina to visit some of her parents' friends who would give them cash gifts for school. Things were better for Fina and she enjoyed her new life. She even spent most of her holidays with Sade and  her family.

Out of all her father's friends, Sade was particularly close to uncle Duke. He was a very good looking man in his mid fifties. Whenever they visited he showered them with a lot gifts and was the most generous when he gave them cash.

Sade's parents knew that uncle Duke was fond of Sade and everyone called him Sades's "original daddy".

Uncle Duke would also reward Sade and Fina for making good grades every semester and treated them to fine dining sometimes. It was very easy to be  fond of uncle Duke.

It was a new semester in their fourth and final year in school; Fina did not show up in Sade's house like she did in the past as they usually travelled back to school together.

Sade did not see or hear from Fina for a week and she was worried especially when Fina's mother confirmed that her daughter left for school.

Two weeks later Fina came back to school and it was obvious to Sade that she avoided her. Fina would not open up to her friend who was worried about her.

To be continued....
