Best time to Forgive

As a blogger I've seen and read so many stories including those that are too embarrassing to share.

This particular story makes me both upset and sober.

Chiso (not real name) met Mina (not real name) during her youth service in a remote village in the Eastern part of Nigeria where she served as a teacher.

Mina's father worked in the Church that Chiso attended every Sunday.

The school where she taught English also belonged to the Church. Mina lived in the Church compound with her parents and somehow she developed a bond with Chiso.

After her service year Chiso kept in touch with Mina and her family. Mina also started to spend her holidays with Chiso's family.

Chiso's family literally adopted Mina and at took up the responsibility of paying her school fees when she was admitted into the University.

Mina became the little sister that Chiso never had and Chiso treated her as such.

Chiso shared all her secrets with Mina and did not bother that Mina never confided in her on any issue.

When Chiso got married Mina was her maid of honour. She genuinely loved Mina who also loved her in return.

Mina started to spend her holidays with Chiso in her new home. When the babies started to come Chiso was grateful to God for Mina. Mina was very good with babies and made motherhood easier for Chiso.

It seemed like Mina was trained to be a nanny and she helped Chiso with all her heart.

In return Chiso was extra generous to Mina and basically took over from her parents and started to sponsor Mina's education.

One Saturday morning, Chiso woke up from sleep and just walked to the kitchen to get water and got a very rude shock.

Just there by the cooker with her hands placed on the floor and her back bent over to give Kaycee Chiso's husband easy access to her punani was Mina.

She was moaning in a low tone for obvious reasons. Chiso stood there for some seconds before she found her voice.

A month after the unfortunate incident which was December Mina called Chiso and for the first time confided in her.

She had bled for two weeks non stop. Chiso immediately swung into action, she asked Mina to return to her place.

By the following day Mina had arrived and she took her to the hospital where it was confirmed that she was having a bad miscarriage. Chiso paid the hospital bills.

While still in the hospital, Mina fell on her knees and cried and asked Chiso to forgive her.  She claimed that that day in the kitchen was their first time. (Liar)

Kaycee (not real name) stumbled upon her as she cleaned the oven that early morning and without saying a word just grabbed her from behind.

Chiso told her that she forgave her in the spirit of the Christmas season. She forgave her husband a long time ago and never mentioned what happened to anyone.

Mina was grateful that Chiso did not report her to her parents who would have been gutted by the incident.

Chiso promised to keep supporting her till she's done with school. Now wait for this....., Mina is still welcome to Chiso's home.

Me: Forgiveness is truly divine. To forgive, one must step out of the ordinary into the supernatural where nothing else matters but the desire to please God. How else can one explain Chiso's character? More so, Christmas season is the best time to forgive.

  1. Very interesting story. Sometimes we think that those who forgive and forget are mad. They are not mad or weak. They have found a way to de-clutter their lives . Mina should be more scared and accept the help from a distance.

    1. It takes the grace of God to forgive and it is not everybody that have such gift. Chiso is an exceptional character.
      To Mina, she was naive.
