We have shamed the Woman

WE HAVE SHAMED THE WOMAN AND EVERYTHING ABOUT HER!

We have body shamed her.  She has either too much belly or too little butt. Then we tease: too short, too plump, too lanky or just gross.

We have made her conceal the details of her womanhood. We have said it is unpleasant to hang her breasts in her clothes; why not tie them.

We have rejected the hair on her skin, mandating her to shave. We have continued to criticize, and refused to accept, acknowledge and appreciate that ultimately, her breasts will fall, her skin will stretch, and her face will wrinkle.

We have said her monthly flow is a revolting tale, a tale that must be hidden, not talked about because it is, to us, a thing of shame. She must bear it like a burden and carry it like a cross…for being a woman.

A person is wayward when she is a woman. When she talks, we say she’s nagging. When she cries, she’s lachrymose. When she defends her interests, oh…she’s a feminist as though this is a bad word.

We hear the word ‘slut’ when it is a woman….then ‘loose’, ‘cheap’, ‘trashy’, ‘ho’. No common masculine equivalents. She must not wear that little dress, must not flaunt that revealing top, lest she lures the ‘gentle’ eyes of men to temptation. If she is violated, she was in the wrong place. If she is battered, she must share the blame in some way.

If she accumulates wealth, she’s moving too fast. If she wallows in indolence, she’s being too dependent. When she is so humble, she has no class. When she exerts authority, she is termed unruly. If a woman makes a mistake, it’s because she’s a woman. If her husband makes the mistake, he’s got a bad wife.

The woman wears a huge chain of moral consciousness. She is expected to be docile, diligent and overtly virtuous.  If she’s not married, there is something she’s not doing right. She has got to restrict her movement and limit her opinions. She must appear humble enough for someone to marry her. And when the ring comes, she must beam with pleasure… for a life wish has been fulfilled.

If she has no children, her past is haunting her. If she does have children, she must quit that fine job, reject that promotion.  If the child turns out bad, he has an evil mother. If he turns out fine, he has such great parents.

It’s ‘ladies first’ when the woman walks gently in the front but if she tries to increase this pace, its ‘ladies first’ no more.

Yet look at the woman.!
She absorbs the pain and disregards the distress for she has been taught to do so. She appears graceful and ecstatic for it is in order to do so. She would not sulk, not even a grimace. Thus, there is no wrinkle to show her agony. She lets it die, all of it, and buries it inside of her.

Henceforth, she will do that no more.

  4. This is a generalization of the thoughts of all men owing to multiple incidences being justified by a collection of common words and singular opinions. We haven't all shamed women dear writer

  5. I always appreciate and try to show as much affection as I deem genuine. I differ when I don’t find submissions illogical. Women are not shamed; they don’t deserve to be.
